001. Roman Holiday

This bell-shaped Sèvres vase was produced in 1850 as one of a pair (the other vase of the pair is depicted in ‘The Peaceful Warrior ' elsewhere on this website). This vase depicts a female profile with Greek neo-classical influence. The coiled handles were by Diéterle; the matte decoration, fired on biscuit, by Favre. The vase is currently in the National Museum of the Chateau of Fontainebleau, Fontainebleau, France. Oil on canvas.
