019. Bacchus and Ariadne
This is one of two vases called Vases ‘Oeuf’
(egg), completed by the Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory in 1810.
This vase is decorated with a painting called ‘Bacchus and
Ariadne.’ The two vases were delivered to Prince Louis I of
Hesse-Darmstadt in 1810. The vase is currently in the Wadsworth
Atheneum, Hartford. Watercolor and gouache on gesso board.
