027. The Chariot
The wine-bottle cooler (seau ‘à
bouteille’) is based on a piece from the very large and celebrated
service commissioned from the Sèvres factory by the Empress
Catherine II of Russia, made in 1778 and delivered to St. Petersburg
in 1779. The cooler is currently in the Wallace Collection, London.
